I need to shoot some pictures in low light conditions at a disco. What is the best lens to buy for this type of photography?

I plan to purchase a Canon Rebel T1i. It comes with a 18-55mm lens. I will need to get a telephoto and a wide angle lens as well. If I purchase this camera, am I limited to only buying lenses from Canon? If not, will the Tamron (or any other brand) lens work with it?

I’m planning on buying one today.
I want to know if you can use older lenses also along with the newer lenses.

I have a Nikon D40X digital SLR camera and want a new lens for it. However, It is more of just a hobby (not professional). I only have the original 18-55mm lens that came with it and want another (with more zoom probably). I can’t spend a whole lot for it, but I’d like a practical lens that’s good quality. I was looking at the Canon 17-40mm f/4 L series and the Canon 70-200mm f/4 L series. I want to make sure the lens to buy are good in low light such as for weddings and in churches where flash is not allowed.

I recently purchased a Canon Xsi DSLR camera. However, I only want to purchase one lens for this camera but I am confused on what to purchase. I was looking at a 18-200 or 18-135 lens but want to get feedback on what to get. I only want one lens! I heard Tamron, Canon and Sigma make good lenses but I am torn. THanks!

I don’t know if I should sell my Canon Powershot S3 IS or just get a new add on lens.
I am interested in doing many different type of photography, but mostly music photography, such as at concerts.
I would also like to take photo as promotions for bands though too.
