When I look at digital cameras online, how do I know if the camera can zoom in while its taking a video?
Is it “Optical Zoom”?
The camera that I have right now can not zoom while I am taking a video, even though it can zoom in on pictures.
Also, none of the cameras I’m looking at seem to have the dimensions or quality of their video. How do I know if the video quality will be good?

Any fully adjustable camera like a 35 mm SLR or digital SLR.
You will also need a portrait lens (85 mm or 105 mm for a 35 mm SLR and 50 mm for a DSLR)

I take a lot of action pictures. I want to be able to take a picture in low light like at a concert without the pictures being blurry.

I’ve bought a couple of digital cameras in the past, ranging from $100 – $250 , but there’s always either a problem with the auto focus delay, or the “low light” delay, pics coming out blurry, etc. Any advice as to what I should look for in a camera, where my main focus (no pun intended) will be taking pictures of bands playing in clubs, where the lighting is mixed?

I am going to Africa to take pictures of documents in archives. The materials are not in good shape and the archive is poorly lit with flourescent lights. I’ve heard that some digital cameras have a feature that is especially useful for taking black and white pictures (although these would be primarily ivory/beige and black). Has anyone heard of that or could you give me suggestions of brands, models that would best do the job? Any resources out there especially for people working in archives? Thank you.

I want a camera that can take really good concert pictures for venues that are dark and have only a little lighting and I’m looking for one in the price range of $100-$200. Features such as a fast shutter speed and good ISO settings are what I want.

Every picture I have ever taken at gigs is absolute rubbish, which I guess is due to the lighting behind the acts.
I’m looking to buy a new compact camera (ideally £150-£200), does anyone have any recommendations, or tips for taking good quality snaps at gigs ?
